Lately, I’ve been spending a considerable amount of time working on my AS3 coding. For those of you that may not know it, ActionScript3 is quite a departure from ActionScript 2.

My current schedule is to spend 2 hours a day working through AS3 content and concepts.

Naturally, as I go about learning ActionScript3 I end up writing countless lines of code and after awhile they all start to blend together. To help reinforce concepts and code, I’m following a fantastic idea that I read about from Dave Seah, the development of a code “Spellbook”.

Dave’s Spellbook uses a wiki to organize the knowledge he gains about SQL in his quest to master the language. While this is a fantastic idea, I’m planning on keeping my book in strictly paper form. Hopefully, by handwriting each line the concepts, syntax and class paths will become easier to remember.

It would probably be more appropriate to call my version a cookbook of sorts, because it’s mainly going to be a collection of script recipes. My current goal is to have a blog post and sample code download to go with each entry that I make into the spellbook.
